We want you to get the most out of Datawrapper, to create beautiful and readable charts, maps, and tables. That's why we're excited to introduce you all to a new addition to our support team who will help us answer all your questions: Margaux Bourdon. She’ll be working five days a week, together with Elana, Aya, and Eddie, filling this position and making our support even better.

Let’s hear from her ourselves:

Hi Margaux! Can you please introduce yourself?

Hi there, I’m Margaux! I’m originally from Lyon, France — capital of the Gauls back in the Roman Empire’s days, the world’s capital of gastronomy (not my words), and the birthplace of cinema :) Here's a little Datawrapper locator map of Lyon (the second one I created!):

What's your background?

Before coming to Berlin almost four years ago, I studied art history and photography, both in France as well as in New York. I had fallen in love with Berlin before studying in the US, and since staying in New York was not economically feasible I decided to give the German capital a go! I planned on learning German and doing my master’s degree when I came here but started working in customer support instead, taking the classic “Berlin expat” road, and ended up loving it — much more than going back to the academic road.

Before coming to Datawrapper I was working as a personal shopper for menswear, which was so much fun and totally unrelated to what I’ll be doing now.

Why did you want to join the Datawrapper team?

After three years, I wanted to steer out of the fashion and sales world to go explore other horizons, and came upon Datawrapper while looking for a job. I decided to apply because I really liked the product and the idea of helping people who help people understand the world better.

What will you do at Datawrapper?

At Datawrapper I will be doing support, answering all of our customers’ questions, and helping them make the best use of our tool. I’m also looking forward to learning everything about data visualization since I’m relatively new in the field — a layperson, if you will, more used to reading the papers than writing them. There is so much to learn for me at Datawrapper, and I’m so excited for the ride!

When I’m not working, I’m usually learning all kinds of crafts, like knitting, ceramics, or embroidery (big grandma energy). When they are open, you’ll also find me in one of Berlin’s many museums — I quit university, but never my love for art :)

Welcome, Margaux! It’s great to have you here. You, dear reader, will likely meet her again in a support reply — or in her first Weekly Chart, which Margaux will write in a few weeks.
